Plant On a Chip의 개발 및 식물 재배
As Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) has been widely used for various research these days, research on plant cells as well as animal cell research is becoming more important. In this paper, a Plant On a Chip (POC) using MEMS technology is studied and fabricated as a research module of a plant. To show the advantage of POC, alfalfa seeds were cultivated with general water on one side and sugar solution (6%) on the other side. The total length of the seeds grew by about 14% in the general water than in the sugar solution, and the length of the stem grew by about 175% in the general water than in the sugar solution, but the length of the root grew by about 45% in the sugar solution than in the general water. This results show that the preexisting studies that seeds couldn't be cultivated well in the sugar solution are wrong and prove the advantage of research with POC.
