공기 팽창을 이용한 Reversed Omega 형상의 3차원 PDMS 마이크로웰

김기덕, 김성환, 박중열(중앙대학교 기계공학과)
In this study, I will suggest a new simple production process and a new Omega-shaped microwell which can overcome weakness of microwell. Omega-Shaped microwell is a reversed-omega shape, and since the crest between wells is not flat but concave, it minimizes the loss of cells. Because the intervals are moderate, it, also, minimizes cross-talk by diffusion. Omegawell does not use soft lithography which needs an expensive equipment, but the double casting method which our study group recently suggests. In short, putting PDMS into micro pin array using CPU pin, surface between pin array becomes convexed shape by the effect of the surface tension. On the face of a primary mold, conduct methanol-based double casting. Solidifying PDMS on processed mold, not only cavity is generated by the gas expansion, but the interval of microwell array is generated by the surface of a primary concave formed mold.
This study makes it possible to produce spheroid more efficiently, and presents a new production method of microwell form. Also, reflects useful functions that can be applied in the cell study fields, it is expected that Omega Well System suggested in this study can expand its general and commercial effects on the fields of cell biology and tissue engineering.
