Generation
of gas microbubbles in a microfluidic device
We developed the microfluidic device to manipulate gas microbubbles with various solutions. The microfluidic device is consisted of two nozzles, gas inlet, and liquid inlet. The liquid is injected separately on both sides with half of flow rates and is also passed to orifice with air. In passing the orifice, the monodisperse occurs to generate the gas microbubbles. We hypothesize that flow rate of microfluidic device will play an important role in controlling the size and yield of gas microbubbles. We demonstrated that various solutions (PEG, Triton X-100, and Tween80) were generated gas microbubble and also analyzed the yield and size of the gas microbubbles in response to various liquid conditions. Therefore, this microfluidic device could be a potentially powerful tool for generating the gas-microbubbles.
