Carbon nanotubes as building blocks for functional materials and devices
Carbon nanotube (CNT) was discovered by Dr. Iijima since 1991, it have been received much attention due to their excellent physical, chemical and electrical properties.
The superior electronic conductivity and mechanical properties of CNT than any other metals make them suitable for various electronic devices or mechanical components. Also, the ability to provide a wide range of functionality based on large specific surface area has also shown a great deal of potential as a sensor, carrier and template.
In this session, first, I will give a brief presentation on an electric field assisted assembly and alignment method that must be considered to utilize CNTs as building blocks. Next, I will also talk about how the excellent physical and chemical properties of CNTs can be applied to various applications based on lithium ion batteries and quantum dots applications. Chemical stability along with the excellent electrical properties of CNTs shows the potential as a conducting additives and anode materials for lithium ion batteries. Finally, I will conclude this session with a comment on how I have been attempted to apply the CNTs to the quantum dot solar cell that I am actively working on it in recent years.
