균일한 유동 분포를 위한 바나듐 흐름전지용 최적 전극 설계
Experimental and Numerical study on the flow field in the porous electrode for the vanadium redox flow battery (VFB) was performed to distribute the electrolyte uniformly in the electrode. We controlled porosity of electrode locally by adding carbon felt partially to enhance the flow distribution in the electrode. We suggested three types of electrode; the porous electrode whose porosity is uniform through the electrode, porosity is higher at the entrance, and the porosity is higher at the exit. And we developed model for the flow field in the porous electrode to explain the differences for each case. Though the results, we can know that when the current density is low, the electrode without additional carbon felt shows good cell performance. When the current density is high, however, the cell performance is good for the electrode with additional carbon felt at the entrance. This is because additional carbon felt helps to distribute the flow field uniformly.
