Electro-mechanics and different regimes of double droplet break-up
Double droplet is of great physical interest due to its wide interesting applications in biomedicine, chemical engineering, etc. Main motive of this work is to explore the electro mechanics of such droplets under the framework of leaky dielectric physics. We have explored different regimes of droplet break up that can be controlled by electric capillary number which is the ratio of electrical force to surface tension force, volume fraction of core to shell, conductivity ratios and other physical properties of the fluids involved. Core can change its shape from spherical to cylindrical and possibly, dumbbell. The core can also split or remain intact. Consequently, double droplets can break at one of the poles or both of the poles, simultaneously, at the condition when net forces acting on core/shell interface exceeds those acting on shell/ambient interface. The technique can be applied for the manufacturing of complex shaped particles.
