Numerical study on the flow characteristics of axial cyclone with a counter cone

A counter cone has been used to increase collection efficiency of tangential cyclones. In this study, a counter cone is adopted into an axial cyclone. the effect of dimensions of the counter cone on the performance of the axial cyclone is numerically investigated regarding the collection efficiency and pressure drop of the cyclone. It is found that the collection efficiency increase with the height of the counter cone while the pressure drop is not almost changed.
