PIV 시스템을 활용한 연속 테일러 반응기 내부 유동 측정

Taylor-Couette (TC) flow generates uniformly distributed vortices in a co-axial rotating equipment. TC flow has an advantage in controlling the shear stress of operating fluid. Recently, TC flow has shown various application areas in graphene exfoliation, microparticle formation and cell separation. As a commercial equipment, generating TC flow, various simulation results with different design parameters are required during the design process. Also, the simulation results should compare with experimental measurement in the flow. A general approach in experiment is the particle image velocimetry (PIV), which is a method that can directly measure the fluid flow by using particles and digital camera. In this talk, we will present the experimental measurement of the TC flow by a PIV system with CW(Continuous Wave) Laser and a high-performance, high-speed camera. In addition, the experimental measurement is compared with simulation results by computational fluid dynamics. Based on the experiment and simulation, we will discuss the optimal conditions in generating stable TC flow.
