Numerical Optimization on Design of Heat Exchanger Manifolds
In this study, an automated procedure to optimize the distribution of flow in the heat exchanger manifolds is investigated. The process is driven by coupling the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and a surrogate-based optimization model. The high of baffle between each channel is the controlled parameter. The simulation of flow distribution of R134a in manifolds has been demonstrated by using a VOF model. Using this methodology, a set of results which improve the distribution of flow is finally proposed.
