An Experimental Study of 60W Polymer Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Stack through NEDC Cycle
Durability of PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) that is applied to the FCV(Fuel Cell Vehicle) is a main issue. Because the fluctuation range of vehicle fuel cell is large and start-stop cycle is frequent, the load change has to be reflected for the durability study of vehicle fuel cell by considering driving situation. However, the study of PEMFC stack considering the load characteristic of vehicle is not yet enough. In this study, based on the JRC report of EU, the stack durability experiment was conducted for about 900 cycles through the New European Driving Cycle(NEDC) protocol which combines urban driving cycle with extra urban cycle. Polarization curve was obtained every 300 cycles to evaluate the durability reduction over time, and voltage degradation rate was analyzed for each load. The durability degradation characteristic for the time, load, and the driving cycle was confirmed.
