저온형 고체 산화물 연료전지 개발
Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been considered as promising energy conversion devices because of their high efficiency for energy conversion, excellent fuel flexibility, and great possibility in the development of thermal power plants with environmental friendliness without any harmful secondary products. However, required high operating temperatures (>800 °C) for reasonable ionic conductivity of conventional electrolyte materials have caused significant limitations such as membrane design, material selection, sealing, and performance degradation for long-time operation. Therefore, systematic researches for reducing the operating temperature to the intermediate temperature regime (600-800 °C) have been intensively investigated for the last decades. As operating temperature decreases, however, retarded oxygen reduction reaction rate has a significant adverse influence on the electrochemical performance of SOFCs. In this presentation, newly developed approaches will be presented to reduce the operating temperature of SOFCs with an excellent electrode performance and thermal stability.
